Adoption Information
In order to make our adoptable pets available to the largest potential adoption audience, we list our available pets on petfinder.com. Please click on the link below, which will direct you to our "home page" on petfinder.com. When you click on "Our Pet List", you will see all the rescued pets we have that are currently available for adoption. We also utilize other websites that allow us to publish our rescued pets availability. Please see our "LINKS" page for additional information.
There are some adoptable pets shown on our petfinder.com page that we do not have in our care (due to capacity issues). The pets are either still with their original owners, or in the care of an independent rescuer/foster home. In these cases, we are providing an resource for the individuals to publicize their adoptable pets that they would not ordinarily have. We will provide as much information about the pets as possible, but the 'contact' information will be the owner/foster home. The "All Creatures Great & Small Animal Sanctuary" does not sponsor the adoption process between the adopters and the individuals that have the pets. These individuals are not representatives of the "All Creatures Great & Small Animal Sanctuary"
Our Adoption Process For Cats: First, an interested "family" contacts us to identify the cat or kitten they are interested in adopting. We send out a short questionnaire to gather information from the prospective adopter, to see if they are a suitable "family" for the cat or kitten in question. Once the answers have been sent to us, and if we are comfortable with the potential "family", we arrange for a visit with the cat/kitten they are interested in. This allows us to see how they interact with the pet, and to ask additional questions. We do not allow the pet to go to the new home during the visit. Our policy is to have everyone involved "sleep on" their decision to adopt. This policy also allows us to discuss the adoption suitability. The day following the visit, the potential adoptive "family" then indicates whether they wish to continue with the adoption process. At this time, we arrange for a pick up date, and the adoption process is finalized with completion of our adoption agreement. Following the adoption, we follow up with the new 'parents' the day after the pet is picked up, a week after, and a month after the adoption. This allows us to answer any questions that may arise during the first 30 days following the adoption, to make sure the pet is settling in well etc. Even though we have a "set" follow up procedure, we are obviously available to answer any questions the new family will have. For Dogs: Essentially, the same procedure as above applies. The only difference is that with dogs, we also arrange for "play dates", "sleep-overs", and "timed adoptions". These visitations allow us and the new family to trial run the adoption, especially if an existing dog is involved, or if the dog being adopted is a little shy, and has difficulty adjusting to new situations. If you require any more information regarding our adoption policies, please do not hesitate to contact us.
