Our Mission
The "All Creatures Great & Small Animal Sanctuary" is a "no-kill" organization dedicated to rescuing stray
cats and dogs, and finding them permanent loving homes.  In an effort to help control the overpopulation of
homeless cats, our sanctuary also runs a "feral cat" program (see below for more information).
About Us
The "All Creatures Great & Small Animal Sanctuary" is incorporated in the State of Ohio as a non-profit
organization, and is also a federally tax-exempt entity under the Internal Revenue Service 501(c)(3)
provisions.  While we have been rescuing animals for many years, the sanctuary itself was officially founded
(incorporated) in June of 2002, and became a tax-exempt entity in November of 2002.
The "All Creatures Great & Small Animal Sanctuary" feral cat program follows the Trap, Neuter, and
Release (TNR) protocol.  Here's how it works....We identify a particular feral cat colony, and get the
necessary permission to trap cats on the property. Then, we begin trapping cats. Once trapped,  the cat/kitten
is taken to a vet, and tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV.  If the cat tests positive for either disease, it is
euthanized.  If negative, the cat is then spayed/neutered, given a Rabies vaccination (by State law) and the
top of the cat's left ear is "tipped" (removed).  This ear tipping is a nationally recognized 'identification' ,
indicating that the cat has already been trapped, tested, and 'altered'. The cat is kept for a couple of days for
recovery. The final step is to release the cat back into the feral community  it came from, and then start over
with attempts to catch another cat.  If we identify and capture a 'tame' cat, we will attempt to find a home for it.
The same procedure applies if we are able to find kittens young enough to be socialized with humans.  For
more information about the TNR protocol, please go to our "
LINKS" page, and click on the icon for "Alley Cat
Allies".
Rescue and Adoption Statistics
During 2003 and 2004, we rescued a total of 90 cats/kittens and 7 dogs.  Of the 90 cats/kittens, 37 were
rescued in 2003, and 53 were rescued in 2004.  We rescued 6 dogs in 2003, and 1 dog in 2004.  During
2003, 37 cats/kittens were adopted out to permanent loving homes, and 53 cats/kittens went to great homes
in 2004.  Of the 7 dogs rescued in the 2003-2004 time-frame, 4 went to new homes during 2003, and the
remaining 3 dogs were adopted in 2004.
The All Creatures Great & Small Animal Sanctuary is now located in Indianapolis (formerly based in Cleveland, Ohio).  We
are unable to continue our "rescue" operations at this time, however we do have some pets available for adoption - you can
visit our "
Adoptable Pets" page for more information.  We are not sure when we will resume our rescue
operations, or what scope our work will undertake.  We will update this website when new information is available.
